Fourcall is an easy-to-use program that runs on a Windows Notebook, Laptop or PC and generates the selcall sequences necessary to make selective calls over the VKS-737, VMS-469, VKE-237 Outback HF radio networks. The audio calling signal generated by Fourcall is connected to the microphone audio input of the HF transmitter.
To operate Fourcall, you enter your own 4-digit mobile/selcall number (provided by the Network) and the mobile/selcall number of the station that you are calling. Press the Call button and the audio sequence is generated and sent to the speaker output socket of the computer.
Fourcall includes a list of "Favourite" selcall numbers, which you can customise for you own use. Fourcall ships with a list of favourites including the Beacon call numbers of the Network base stations, for test purposes, and the RFDS emergency call codes for each base station.
Fourcall can be downloaded freely and comes in a self-installing exe file. The file size is a modest 700 kb.
Fourcall can be freely downloaded and used for 21 days. After that time it must be registered. Registration can be done swiftly and securely on-line and costs only Euro €25 for personal use. A higher fee applies to professional or commercial use of Fourcall. We strongly recommend that you ensure that Fourcall performs to your complete satisfaction before registering.
There are considerable variations in the legislation concerning radio communication in the different administrations around the world. It is your responsibility to determine whether or not your local administration permits the use of selcall. It is specifically forbidden to use Fourcall for any illegal purpose whatsoever including malicious jamming of radio channels. The existence and the availability of Fourcall is not to be construed as an incitement to commit any unlawful act. It is for use only in those states and regions where such use is permitted.
Fourcall generates the 4-digit selcall sequences required for calling on the VKS-737, VMS-469, VKE-237 Outback HF radio networks and for making emergency calls to the RFDS over the VKS-737 Network. Successfully establishing an emergency call depends on a suitable audio connection between the laptop/PC and the HF radio, on a suitable choice of HF radio frequency, on the correct choice of selcall number, and on amenable HF propagation conditions. COAA and the author accept no responsibility for the failure of communication resulting from these or any other conditions not being met.
Fourcall code is reliability tested to an extent that is adequate for recreational use but is neither warranted nor tested for any operational use including but not restricted to any situation where the safety of life is in jeopardy.
